Invitation to participate at the „Hotel of the year 2013” competition

The Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (MSZÉSZ), in cooperation with the Hungarian National Tourist Office, in the interest of

-    presenting  the connection between outstanding services and sales results
-    featuring high quality services
-    spreading „best practices”
-    strengthening  the reputation of the Hungarian hotel industry.

announces the „HOTEL of the YEAR” competition for the first time in Hungary.

Member hotels of MSZÉSZ operating at least since January 1, 2011 with a Hotelstars classification in the 3-3star superior, 4-4star superior, 5-5star superior category may enter the competition.

THE SUBMITTED WORKS WILL BE JUGDED BY THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

Sales results, innovation, quality of services, human policy. A presentation has to be submitted in writing, that besides a short introduction of the hotel - main  targets, guest segments, services – includes the following:
What were the results in 2011-2012 and in the first half of 2012-2013 respectively in room occupancy, gross average room rate, gross REVPAR, gross TREVPAR? The data will be compared with the national, regional, local averages.

•    What innovative methods were used in sales, marketing and operation?
•    The quality of services will be evaluated by mystery shopping visits and Hungarian and international portals collecting guest comments (Tripadvisor, Szállás.hu)
•    Staff motivation policy  of the hotel,  training programs

JUGDEMENT OF THE APPLICATION

The performance of the hotels will be assessed by a 5 member Jury made up of well known hotel experts.
The Jury will make its recommendation to the committee of MSZÉSZ in each category based on the presentation, mystery shopping, guest satisfaction survey and a visit to every competing hotel.

THE METHOD OF THE EVALUATION

The Jury will consider 4 different aspects. The volume of sales with max 30 points, innovation with max 30 points, quality of services with max 30 points, human policy with max 10 points, making an attainable  total of 100 points.

THE PRIZES

• challenge cup – the hotel can hold the cup for one year with its name engraved on it
• diploma
• plaqette
• the award will be presented at a gala ceremony attended by government tourist officials  and the press

Hungarian National Tourist Office will promote the winners of the "Hotel of the year" as follows:

• special introduction at the  itthon.hu web-site in the „Hotel of the Year”  column ( min 1000 max 2000 characters plus one photo)

• feature presentation in the NETA database and the hotel listing

• PR article in the gotohungary.com as well as other foreign language pages of the portal in 2 countries selected by the hotel, in the actual travel tips column  ( min 1000 max 2000 characters plus one photo)

• PR  article in the „Élmény itthon” monthly magazine in Y2 size, where the hotel has a chance to present itself in the second copy published after receiving the award

• furthermore  the Hungarian National Tourist Office will present the film of the hotel ( min 30 seconds, max 3 minutes) at  trade and public events abroad (exhibition, workshop, Premium Day) as previously agreed during the year.

PARTICIPATION FEE

3-3 star superior        HUF    50.000 plus VAT
4-4 star superior        HUF    80.000 plus VAT
5-5 star superior        HUF   100.000 plus VAT

The fee includes the mystery shopping and other organizational costs, participation of 2 people at the gala. The fee has to be transfered to the bank account nr 11795009-29909489-00000000 of the Hungarian Hotel Association Service Kft prior to submitting the application.
